Wood is a renewable material that can store biogenic carbon, and waste wood be recycled to recover bioenergy. The amount of energy recovery from the vary depending on type its chemical structural properties. This paper will analyse life cycle environmental impact wood, starting production stage. These are cradle-to-cradle systems, excluding use phase collection phase. types considered in current study softwood, hardwood, medium-density fibreboard (MDF), plywood, particleboard. results showed all has great potential produce while reducing climate change impact. Hardwood softwood products most beneficial aspects terms thus could help reduce harmful emissions. However, MDF particleboard show least for as they contribute greatest emissions among products. outcomes this used guiding principles Australia consider waste-to-energy facility establishment generate additional wood.
